This easy whipped mascarpone cream tastes heavenly and is really so easy to make that, once you've tried it, you won't want to look back! It is the ultimate luxurious addition to your dessert, or enjoy it on its own for an indulgent snack.
Mascarpone is a type of Italian soft cheese that is made with very high fat cream. It has the consistency of cream cheese but tastes completely different and can be enjoyed both in sweet and savoury dishes. Mascarpone is perhaps most famously used in the Italian dessert tiramisu.
This easy whipped mascarpone cream came to me by a happy accident, but it tasted so good that I decided it was a keeper. I needed whipped cream but only had mascarpone, so I worked with what I had.
Whipped mascarpone commonly includes whipped cream, but I used a bit of milk instead to loosen the cheese. Combined with a bit of sugar and vanilla extract, the result is a dense, rich and creamy blend that tastes insanely deliciously. You might just find yourself eating the whole bowl!
Now, I like whipped cream as much as the next person, but after I discovered this easy whipped mascarpone cream, ordinary whipped cream just seemed so...ordinary. Plain. Boring. Mascarpone cream has a subtle tanginess and complexity to it that adds an extra dimension that ordinary whipped cream can't offer.
This easy whipped mascarpone cream is the perfect finish to almost any dessert. You can pipe it, spread it, dollop it or dip into it. It is gorgeous served with fresh berries on the side or layered between sweet and juicy strawberries, setting a new standard for strawberries and cream.
Whipped mascarpone is best enjoyed straight away. If you're making it ahead of time, store it in the fridge and use within the same day. You can give it a quick whip before using to refresh.
