Welcome to our collection of easy family fish recipes! The recipes here include all seafood, not only fish. I love to eat freshly caught and simply prepared seafood, but as we don't live near the coast, it can sometimes be a struggle to work fish into our diet. We are also limited by what seafood is readily available to us, so I am constantly looking for ways to reimagine the usual types of fish, so no one gets bored!
The health benefits of eating fish have been widely studied, and evidence suggests that eating fish is definitely good for your health. Fish provide an important source of protein and 'good fats,' and cultures that eat a lot of fish in their diet generally have lower incidences of obesity and cardiovascular disease.
If you're lucky enough to have a good fishmonger near you who can access a wide variety of fish and seafood, then you can be as creative as you like with your recipes! Some larger supermarkets may also stock a wider variety of fish and seafood. Many will sell frozen fish, which are convenient for storing in your freezer and cooking later.
Even if you aren't able to access fancy fish varieties, you can certainly still experience health benefits from eating the more common types of fish. Salmon is one of the mostly widely available fish and is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Mackerel, another oily fish, provides a good source of Vitamin D. Tinned sardines are a fantastic fish choice, if you can't get fresh fish, as not only are they high in omega-s fatty acids, but due to their small size, they also don't contain the high levels of mercury that some other fish might.
As a family, we try to eat fish twice a week. Helpfully, the kids have become more adventurous about trying different types of fish and methods of preparation. We have built up a good collection of easy family fish recipes that I'm looking forward to sharing with you in the list below.
Take a look at the collection below. I hope you'll find something useful amongst our easy family fish recipes and be inspired for your next meal. As recipes continue to be developed, I will update the list below with our favourites.
